Release Note - March 16, 2026

General

This release introduces the dynamic PFB Importer, a new end‑to‑end engine that enables seamless Gen3 BDC to BDC-Seven Bridges imports with reliable schema expansion, structured TSV generation, preserved DRS folder paths, and robust handling of edge cases.

New Feature

The dynamic PFB Importer is a new import engine for Gen3 BDC into BDC-Seven Bridges that automates the entire PFB import workflow. When you export a cohort from Gen3, the importer automatically expands the PFB into standard and structured outputs including schema JSON, metadata TSV, node-level TSVs for all entity types, and a DRS manifest. When you export a cohort from Gen3, the importer automatically expands the PFB into standard, structured outputs including:

  • schema JSON
  • metadata TSV
  • node-level TSVs for all entity types
  • a DRS manifest

All files are validated with consistent naming and timestamps to help you easily differentiate between multiple imports into the same project.

DRS files now retain their original folder paths based on the source study, providing logical organization instead of a flattened and long file list. The importer handles edge cases including duplicates, missing filenames, and null values automatically.

This replaces the previous PFB import workflow and resolves issues with inconsistent redirects, timeouts, incomplete TSV generation, missing DRS entries, and schema mismatches.

Performance Characteristics:

The importer now runs as an asynchronous background service using a job queue with up to 10 workers. During peak usage, imports may wait briefly in the queue before processing. Import completion times may average 5–6 minutes instead of the previous ~3 minutes, depending on system load. This behavior is expected and reflects the new, more scalable and robust architecture.
